Support for when you need it most
In times of deep suffering, it can be difficult to speak, let alone reach out for help. Taking the first step by connecting with a counsellor can feel daunting, but is a brave step towards moving your life in the direction of healing. Here, we move at your pace. In session we will reflect on the current reasons bringing you into counselling and look at some of the potential roots of those struggles, taking in an inventory of your past experiences, relationships and family history. Throughout our time together we will probably cry and hopefully laugh, and likely do a lot of learning together about the human condition. The goal of counselling is not to walk away perfect with no more problems, but instead to walk away with renewed self-compassion and a strong sense of your unique meaning and purpose.
“Those who have a why to live can bear almost any how” -Nietzsche
Roots and Branches Counselling is about...
Reaching out
Counselling is inherently a relational experience. Seeking out counselling when life becomes heavy is just another way humans have proved that we are social creatures, in need of community to thrive. Healing doesn’t look like never having to reach out for support, rather, healing can look like developing the kind of self love and compassion that celebrates humanity’s mutual dependence on each other. As well as honing relational skills that help us to engage in our communities in healthy and supportive ways.
& staying grounded.
Counselling is also an excellent way to discover one’s self, develop a deeper sense of purpose and meaning and the process can help one to feel that even in life’s storms, they are able to stay rooted in who they are: their values, beliefs and needs.
